The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2015 has raised Rs. 24.71 crores in its 12th edition, which will aid over 292 NGOs across the country.
Remarked John Abraham, brand ambassador for the Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon, “I thank all the participatory 292 NGOs wholeheartedly for choosing to associate with Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon 2015. They have allowed us to ensure that SCMM has raised more money for charity this year than in any previous edition. We would like to laud all the individuals and corporates for their fund-raising efforts.”
Also gracing the occasion were Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao and Principal Secretary, Education & Sports Nand Kumar, along with representatives from various sponsors and partner to the event.
Added Abraham, “Each year I approach Procam International Ltd and the Athletics Federation of India to allow me to run in the marathon, but they prefer I stand on the podium and wave. As brand ambassador, it’s my job to encourage maximum participation in the race and if me standing at the podium helps that cause, then so be it. I am proud to be associated with India’s largest charity raising platform and this running movement which spreads its message of health and fitness, communal harmony and charitable funding to the far corners of our country.”
The Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon (SCMM) continues its record-breaking streak not only with regards to the participation of 40,000 individuals in the 2015 edition but also in successfully raising funds for charity.
